Frequently Asked Questions
Fine art prints from JTP Prints – answers the questions I’m most often asked about my photographs and the process behind them.
These aren’t simply photographs printed at a larger size. Each image is carefully prepared for fine art reproduction, with attention given to colour, contrast, tonal range and the characteristics of the paper it will be printed on.
I use professional photographic equipment and a dedicated fine art printing workflow to reproduce the photographs as faithfully as possible to the way I intended them to be seen.
Yes. JTP Prints uses a professional Giclée printing process, combining high quality archival fine art papers with a professional photographic inkjet printer and carefully managed colour workflow.
Giclée printing is recognised for its ability to reproduce photographs with an exceptionally high level of detail, subtle tonal transitions and accurate colour, making it particularly well suited to fine art photography.
I prepare each photograph specifically for print rather than simply sending the original digital file to the printer. The aim is to create a physical print that stays as close as possible to the image I originally created.
JTP Prints currently uses carefully selected Hahnemühle fine art papers chosen for their quality, surface characteristics and ability to reproduce photographic detail and tonal range.
Different photographs can benefit from different paper surfaces, which is why paper choice is part of the printing process rather than something I leave to the customer.
JTP Prints is still developing, and I expect to explore additional paper types and finishes in the future as the collection grows.
No. All JTP Prints are currently supplied unframed and unmounted.
This allows you to choose the frame and presentation style that best suits your own space.
Framing and mounting are something I may consider offering in the future as JTP Prints develops.
JTP Prints currently offers a selection of carefully considered print sizes, including A4 and A3+.
These sizes have been chosen to provide a balance between presentation, image impact and practical framing options.
You can explore the available prints in the collection.
As JTP Prints develops, I will continue to consider additional sizes and larger formats where they make sense for the collection.
Prints are carefully packaged flat to help protect them during delivery.
Each print is also signed, making it a personal piece of the JTP Prints collection rather than simply a commercial photographic reproduction.
Yes. Every photograph available through JTP Prints is captured by me as part of my own photographic work.
The collections are built around places, subjects and moments that have personally interested me, from landscapes and architecture to street photography and travel.
A photograph displayed on a screen and a physical print are naturally two different things. Screens emit light, whereas a print reflects light.
I use a controlled colour managed workflow when preparing photographs for print, with the aim of producing a physical print that closely reflects the colour, contrast and tonal character of the original image.
Absolutely. JTP Prints is an evolving collection.
New photographs and collections will be added as I continue to travel, photograph and develop the direction of the project.
JTP Prints currently focuses on delivery within the UK.
If you are outside the UK and would like to purchase a particular print, please get in touch and I can discuss whether an alternative delivery arrangement is possible.
Each print is produced and prepared with care rather than being treated as a mass produced product.
Delivery times can therefore vary slightly depending on the print and order volume. The expected delivery information is provided during the ordering process.
Of course. If you’re unsure about a print, size, paper, presentation or anything else, feel free to get in touch before placing your order.
I’d much rather help you choose the right print than have you order something you’re not completely sure about.
Fine Art Prints and Giclée Printing
At the heart of JTP Prints is the belief that a photograph should be experienced as a physical object, not just viewed on a screen.
Each print is produced using a professional Giclée printing workflow, combining carefully prepared photographic files, professional fine art papers and a high quality photographic printer.
The result is a detailed, archival quality print designed to preserve the character of the original photograph and give it a lasting physical presence.
